We tell our tales…

That’s what we do. After all, what Jennifer and I do is not common. You came here wanting to know what we’re really all about. So…

We tell our tales.

What we do have in common is our dogs. And it is the dogs who tell us their tales. I just simply pass them on to you.

Last night, I got done feeding and watering the kennel dogs. After my simple dinner, I knew I needed to spend time with Alice.

As you all know, Alice needs to have people time at different intervals of the day.

This evening, I had an idea.

I hadn’t spent much down time since returning from my driving gig in Seattle. I wanted to watch a movie. Master and Commander came to mind as I had never seen it.

I called in Yeti and laid a whelping pad on the bed. I turned on the Roku, gathered up the puppy, and up came Yeti. The three of us spent the next  few hours together.

At first, all Alice wanted was mother’s milk and she took some time at the milk bar.

One of the things most endearing about Yeti is how much she loves to snuggle up to me. She’s always been a snuggler. She lay next to me with her head tucked into my chest while Alice had her fill. I fondled Yeti’s fur, something Yeti has always loved.

When Alice was done, she was all business. Playtime was on her schedule and most anything was game. And Alice has become quite the little growler. She wanted to tear into just about anything from Yeti’s ears to my hands to any plush toy she could get a handle on.

While Captain Aubrey (Russell Crowe) of the HMS Surprise battled L’Akron in the south Atlantic, the U.S.S. Alice in Wonderland battled a big white dog and her master. Yeti and I were no match for the little terror who accosted us without mercy.

In the meantime, our Jennifer made it to Michigan. There, in Michigan City just over the border from Indiana, she spent last night. This morning, Jennifer is set to deliver Marie in Kalamazoo and Stanley in Grand Rapids.

Stanley is the reason why Jennifer has been breeding black puppies. Who has been our most popular dog down through the years but Stanley?! The three black males from the Cherry Blossom Litter are every bit Stanley look-alikes.

Even Ladybug whose tale you read yesterday.

They’re a joy to be around, each of them filled with love and curiosity. All of them in awe of me every time I get near to them.

Stanley will be reunited with his kennel mates, Mary and Merriwether in just a few hours. I cannot wait to share with you the experience of that reunion, but that will have to wait until next week.

Until then, happy Friday!
