DEADLY dog food?

According to the FDA after being questioned by several concerned pet owners citing the Freedom of Information Act, 91% of dog food complaints in January 2024 were regarding…

Purina Pet Foods

On January 15, 2024, Purina Pet Food issued a public statement: “Pet parents continue to be understandably scared by an online rumor that there is an issue with Purina pet foods. This rumor is false, and we are saddened to see the confusion and fear that it has caused for pet owners. There are no health or safety issues with our products, and they can continue to be fed with confidence.”

At the time of this statement,

the FDA (and likely Purina) had already received

631 reports involving 839 sick pets from January 1 to January 14, 2024.

Of these, 86 pets died.

In response, a Facebook group, “Saving Pets One Pet @ a Time”, was started to track continuing instances.

A significant number of owners in this group mentioned that they changed their pet's food after reading about other sick pets online, and that this change led to their pet’s survival.

As of today, the situation continues to deteriorate, with over 100 additional reports of sick and deceased pets received by the Facebook group this week alone.

Pet symptoms reported to the FDA have ranged from minor issues to severe health crises.

Numerous pet owners have documented instances of their pets bleeding from the rectum, vomiting blood, and experiencing seizures!

One alarming report described the scene: “On January 23rd, I came home to what looked like a murder scene. There was vomit and extremely bloody diarrhea from the front to the back of my home.”

This report was filed while the pet was hospitalized.

It is unclear if the pet survived.

Many similar reports were submitted to the FDA while pets were hospitalized.

These reports often included pleas for the FDA to take action to prevent further suffering.

Despite these reports, four months later, the FDA has not issued a warning to pet owners or disclosed the number of consumer complaints received since January 31, 2024.

Out of an abundance of caution,

if you are feeding Purina pet foods,

I highly recommend you consider switching.

The BEST nutrition to feed your dog for superior health is a whole prey raw food diet.

You know I only share the best information on dog health, nutrition, training, and genetics.

And from time to time, I like to share great content not created by us that you need.

The truth is…

A whole prey raw food diet is ideal for dogs.

This is the best YouTube channel I know of to get your started on your raw food diet journey:

However, not everyone has the means to provide that type of diet.

Whether it is convenience, money, or lack of resources, I completely understand not being able to go full raw meat and bones.

So, the next best thing is a pre-made raw food diet with added bones.

Here’s a consumer ratings report for 2024 on the different types of pre-made raw food diets:

If you can’t feed a pre-made raw food diet with added bones, then choose a NO GRAIN kibble preferably without peas and then supplement with the following:

  1. organ meats
  2. fish oil
  3. vitamins/minerals
  4. prebiotics
  5. raw meat/bones, as you can

When you signed up to the Dire Wolf Project’s Inner Circle email newsletter, I sent you the ebook I wrote, “10 Ways to Alter Your Dog’s Diet for Immediate Health Results”.

This ebook goes into more details on these five additions to a kibble-based diet.
