Eating like a horse, and growing like a weed!

I just LOVE our Dire Wolf community!
What a wonderful group of dog lovers you all are.
The best dog community on the internet.
In case you weren’t aware, a wonderful family who lives a couple hours west of Dire Wolf Project headquarters co-owned the lovely St. Elias (aka: Ripley) from the Mountain Peaks Litter.
I don’t often co-own, but when I do, it’s always with a very special family.
This co-ownership is no exception.
I love them dearly.
We are so honored they have chosen to support the Dire Wolf Project by raising one of our up and coming stud dogs.
The other day, they gave us a wonderful update of Ripley.
It was such an informative description of just how special our puppies are, that I just knew you had to read it, too.
And besides, sometimes hearing it from another family (and not just from me, who is obviously biased and thinks our dogs are the best ever) allows you to know that we aren’t just blowing smoke.
Our dogs really ARE amazing!

“Hi Jennifer!
I saw some newer pictures of your puppies and thought I’d get you a few of Ripley. He’s eating like a horse and growing like a weed! 18 pounds this morning! Up from just over 11 when we brought him home 2 weeks ago today.
I hope I’m doing everything right! I’m very aware that as a co-owner with you, I don’t want to mess up. Lol
We are feeding him the same kibble you were. Adding NuVet vitamins, and a combo of burger, rice, green beans, carrots, etc. And will probably start cooking up a batch of food to add to his kibble. Is there anything should not have?
He’s great at sleeping in the crate in our bedroom at night. Although he still needs a trip outside once a night about 2:00am. He drinks a lot of water all day, it seems. We are early to bed and early to rise so I usually put up the food and water dishes about 6:30. He’s eating 3 times a day, about 1 ½ cups of food each time.
The crate we have in the living room is not exactly what he had in mind. He’d rather be attached to my leg. Lol But when he’s tired, he naps without too much fussing.
Since he isn’t holding his bladder for too long at a time yet, he’s been going to my Mom and Dad’s while [my husband] and I are at work. Probably another week of that, and then it’s crate time for 4 hours in the morning, and again in the afternoon unless [my sister] happens to be around the house.
He’s not potty-trained yet. But we are getting closer. He will potty outside every time we take him out, which is at least every hour and after naps, play or food. He is just now starting to look or walk toward the door. Or if I ask if he wants to go outside, he will head that way. I think the hardwood floor was a deterrent for him to head for the door sooner, but rugs helped for a time, and he’s got the floors figured out now. The only time I carry him outside now is when we get up during the night because he always has a full bladder to empty and he’s getting too heavy to carry outside all the time now.
He loves his bully sticks. Right now, it’s chew and bite just about everything. He’s such a love. Thanks for sharing your special guy.
He can be skittish when we are outside of loud trucks, the dog that barks from a block away and any noise from roaming animals in the bushes and falling leaves (particularly at night). But during the day, we will sit on the front porch and observe, just watching the world go by. He notices everything! The birds, falling leaves, the construction crew working down the street. I let him watch, sitting near me and we talk about it all. He does love to be outside.
I do need to get him set-up with a vet. It’s been so long since we had a puppy, I didn’t even think about it until a couple days ago and I assume there is a regimen for shots I need to find out about.
I hope you are continuing to feel better, and Jay, too. I’ve been following his trip on Polarsteps. What a great app.
I guess Thanksgiving is not far away. We will be having dinner at our house if you and Jay would like to come. You are always welcome.”

This is what Ripley will look like as an adult:
Without the white spots on the toes, of course.
I can’t wait to watch him grow up!
More black wolf gray puppies just like this to arrive in the near future.
It’s one of my favorite colors in the breed.
We have one puppy left for sale with this exact coloring!
Our littlest puppy, Hamilton, would love to find his forever family.
Here’s a picture of him from a few days ago.
Look at that beautiful fuzzy boy!
So handsome.
Get this sweet puppy home!
Reply to this email to let me know he’s the one.
