Godzilla vs. King Kong
By Jennifer Stoeckl, MAT - Dire Wolf Project CEO, May 21, 2024
ROAAAAR!!!
Two colossal beasts lock paws in a legendary battle!
But wait!
These aren’t your usual titans of terror.
Oh no!
These are the fluffiest, clumsiest giants you could ever imagine:
Two giant American Dirus puppies…
Godzilla and King Kong.
Now, don't be fooled by their names.
Godzilla won’t be a fire-breathing lizard, and King Kong won’t be a skyscraper-climbing ape.
These will be two adorable American Dirus puppies with paws the size of dinner plates and enough fluff to knit a thousand sweaters!
Godzilla will have a strikingly handsome dark silver coat, while King Kong will sport caramel-colored fluff.
I can just imagine them now…
One sunny afternoon, in the lush Ponderosa forests of eastern Washington state, these two fluffy behemoths decide it is time for their daily dose of epic play-wrestling.
The forest floor tReMbLeS as they bound towards each other, their tails wagging furiously.
Birds take flight.
Squirrels scatter.
Even nesting bunnies burrow deeper into their dens, anticipating the playful pandemonium about to begin.
With a mighty (and very puppy-like) ROAAAR!, Godzilla pounces on King Kong.
King Kong, not to be outdone, rolls over and wraps his giant paws around Godzilla, pulling him into a bear hug that could squish a small car…
(if they were actual monsters, that is).
They tumble and wrestle, creating a mini-earthquake with each playful pounce.
Pine needles rain down like confetti, and wildflowers sway as if cheering for their favorite wrestler.
The forest comes alive with the sounds of their joyous growls and grunts.
But just when the wrestling match reaches its peak, a stern bark echoes through the trees.
"Godzilla! King Kong!"
"What have I told you about playing too rough?"
With a coat as majestic as a golden sunset and a gaze that could stop a comet in its tracks, momma Jesse approaches the playful titans with the authority of a queen.
Godzilla and King Kong freeze mid-wrestle,
their puppy eyes wide and innocent.
They disentangle from each other and sit down, tails thumping against the ground in unison, looking up at Jesse with the best "who, us?" expressions they can muster.
Jesse shakes her head with a mix of exasperation and amusement.
"You two are going to bring down
the entire forest if you're not careful!
Remember to play nice."
The giant puppies exchange guilty glances, then slowly amble over to Jesse, nuzzling her with their massive heads.
Jesse's stern façade melts away as she gives each of them a gentle lick on the nose.
"Alright, you two," she says, her voice softer now. "Remember: gentle paws."
With that, Godzilla and King Kong resume their play, this time with a bit more restraint.
They romp through the forest, their giant paws thudding softly against the earth, making sure not to upset any more squirrels or topple any unsuspecting trees.
Can you tell I’m excited for the new
batch of puppies coming in a few weeks?!
In the not too distant future, the Monster Movie litter out of Cookie Monster and Jesse will arrive at Dire Wolf Project headquarters.
(Their due date is June 6th.)
And I can’t wait!
We’ve had puppies from this match before (the Giants litter), and they turned out AMAZING!
Their little personalities were so sweet with that bonded emotional connection American Dirus puppies are so famous for.
