Monster puppy weight measurements!
By Jennifer Stoeckl, MAT - Dire Wolf Project CEO, Aug. 2, 2024
My, how time flies!
The Monster Movie litter puppies turned eight weeks old yesterday.
And that means…
It’s almost time to travel home!
But before the puppies meet their new families, they must be checked over thoroughly by our vet.
Jay placed the large crate in the car and added the pads and towels so the puppies would be comfortable.
Then, we let the puppies out to run and play before the hour-long trip.
They wait at the gate, sitting quietly and looking up with such palpable anticipation.
Once that gate opens, the puppies rush out in all directions, bounding and pouncing all around us.
The happiness from this litter is such a wonderful feeling.
But these little monsters have not been in a moving vehicle before.
Sometimes that doesn’t go very well with puppies protesting the new environment on the bumpy, winding roads.
Not this litter, though.
They are all such sweet little monsters.
Each puppy received a brush just before being placed into the back of the DireWolf Express Chrysler Pacifica.
Not a peep from them as Jay carefully navigated the bumps and turns.
The puppies slept the entire way there and back like the amazing creatures they are.
Jay and I have the litter check-up routine down pat nowadays.
We hand the puppy folders to the vet. tech. and then Jay and I bring in one puppy after another until they are all weighed, checked over, and given their 5-in-1 puppy shots.
Here is a breakdown of the weights for all the puppies:
- Balrog - 18.8 lbs
- Minilla - 15.2 lbs
- King Kong - 17.6 lbs
- Gamera - 14.6 lbs
- Creature - 11.8 lbs
- Rodan - 14.8 lbs
- Ghidorah - 13.8 lbs
- Mothra - 13.8 lbs
- Godzilla - 14.6 lbs
Wow, right!?
I thought Balrog was a giant, but DANG! He’s a GIANT.
And King Kong isn’t far behind him!
Godzilla surprised me because he is the largest puppy in the litter. I guess he just doesn’t have the muscle mass that Balrog, Minilla, and King Kong have.
And little, tiny Creature!
His fluff makes him look so much bigger, but he’s so light. WOW.
Every puppy was spectacular with the vet.
Calm and collected describes each and every one of these precious souls.
A few gave some kisses and a tail wag or two, but otherwise quiet, still, and compliant.
GREAT pups!
Then, we were hit with some sad news.
Dr. Dale Carnegie, DVM and his wife, Doris, informed us that Doc is going to retire next month!
It’s so hard to find a great old school vet like Dr. Dale.
The kind that doesn’t:
- push “prescription” kibble.
- guilt me into spending more.
- do unnecessary procedures.
- disregard me for my own in depth knowledge of dog health.
We don’t know what we’re going to do.
If you happen to be a veterinarian (or know someone who is), perhaps you might think about living in a rural, conservative forest home where your clients are already established, the small office is tidy and neat, and the community lives hard, but joyous lives.
Otherwise, there isn’t another veterinarian around for 50+ miles to serve thousands of great families.
Dr. Dale Carnegie, DVM will be greatly missed by many.
We’ll be searching out the choices we have at our disposal in the next few months.
But before we do, the Monster Movie litter puppies will be on the road to their new families!
Jay is going to head out sometime real close to August 9th.
That means there is only a week left.
If you are thinking about one of the puppies from this litter, you’ll have to act quickly now.
