The man who has a dog from ALL THREE BREEDERS!
By Jennifer Stoeckl, MAT - Dire Wolf Project CEO, Dec. 13, 2024Did you know the Dire Wolf Project used to have THREE BREEDERS?!
Well, actually…
We had two certified breeders and an intern breeder.
Shawna Davis was an intern breeder in the final stages working under Lois’s supervision.
She whelped a litter for the Dire Wolf Project.
ONE PERSON in all the world has one dog from Lois, myself, AND Shawna!
And the way it happened is an amazing story.
The only reason I have my Luna (formerly Roo), was because some lady in MA, got 2 Dire Wolf dogs (Roo & Luna) as therapy/service dogs because she was ill. She died very prematurely, and her son, I assume didn't know much about the dogs or where they came from, so he took them to a shelter in Rhode Island called the Potter League. Her unfortunate death, was what lead me to you and the Dire Wolf Project. I'm glad I did my research and tracked you down. Those 2 poor dogs were so thin, submissive and mangy looking, but I could see what a little love, food, attention and grooming could do. I didn't even want a dog, but my heart immediately fell in love with Roo at that shelter. So I adopted Roo and changed her name to Luna, which was odd because that was her sister's name. I actually went back a day later to adopt her sister Luna, but she was sold to the son of someone in Portsmouth, RI, where I live, but her son lived in Maryland. I gave the Potter league my contact info hoping they would call so I could give them the background on the dogs, but they never reached out. All I know is the dog lives in Maryland.Things happen for a reason and now I have 3 amazing Dire Wolf dogs.
Luna (Roo) & the original Luna- I believe are from Lois
Auggie- is from Shawna
Havoc/Anak is from you
I may be the only owner with a dog from all 3 breeders!
WOW!
So, he found himself at a shelter at the exact time a woman died suddenly leaving two DireWolf Dogs to her son, who surrendered them t the same shelter.
Through research, he was able to find out that his new dog was indeed a DireWolf Dog from Schwarz Kennels (the founder’s kennels).
He was then able to find out the origin and ancestry of his new furry friend.
At that time, Shawna had a litter for the Dire Wolf Project and this man purchased one.
Then, recently, he decided two wasn’t enough and got a great puppy from my kennels.
What a unique and amazing situation to find himself in!
I am so glad he took the time to find out the special origins of his sweet Luna (Roo) so that he could find all of us.
If you are curious, our breed founder, Lois Schwarz, still breeds DireWolf Dogs from time to time.
She is retired now, but her daughter, Amey, helps keep her lines in order.
In fact, you may be interested to know that Lois’s lines are now in the fourth generation from the English Mastiff crossbreed several years ago now.
If you are looking for extra giant (like over 150 lbs), check out what Lois Schwarz is up to in southern Oregon.
P.S. Shawna has since moved on to breeding the Colorado Mountain Dog, a livestock guardian dog.
