FAIR WARNING:
This story might just steal your heart.
Something incredible happened this week in the Dire Wolf Project nursery.
Our Cherry Blossom litter has officially hit the three-week mark, and to celebrate, they were given a grand new nursery space, complete with soft straw, open dirt, and—gasp—a ramp.
But here’s the catch… they weren’t exactly thrilled about it at first.
At first light, tiny paws hesitated, noses twitched in confusion, and little bodies huddled close to mom, unsure of this strange new world.
It was as if they had landed on an entirely different planet!
But as the night wore on and they nestled safely beside their mothers, something shifted.
By morning, the first brave explorers ventured forward, feeling the straw beneath their feet for the first time.
And then… we had firsts.
- Their first time toddling onto soft earth,
- Their first cautious descent down the ramp,
- Their first bold steps into a space far bigger than they had ever known.
But adventure comes with a learning curve, and two tiny pioneers—March Wind and Equinox—found themselves in a bit of a predicament.
Unable to make sense of the ramp back up, they discovered the perfect hideaway.
A cozy little nook under the ramp itself.
And once they found it, well, let’s just say they were in no hurry to leave.
Each time I checked on them, I’d find those two curled up in their secret den, content in their own little world.
A quick rescue mission brought them back to the nursery, only for them to waddle straight back under the ramp again like little explorers claiming new territory.
But here’s the best part.
Yesterday morning, I peeked in and found all the puppies back in the nursery, snuggled together like nothing had ever been amiss.
The ramp was no longer a mystery.
It was conquered!
Their world had expanded, and yet, their instinct for home still held strong.
They may not be ready to roam far just yet, but these pups are learning fast.
And trust me.
The new photos from their big adventure are too cute to miss.
