Nala's Fund Benevolent: a NEW way to support the Dire Wolf Project!
By Jennifer Stoeckl, MAT - Dire Wolf Project CEO, June 15, 2023Each morning, you open your device and find an email from the Dire Wolf Project waiting to be opened.
It’s like a gift; a chance to step out of the daily grind and peer into the wonderfully engaging world where dire wolves roam the landscape once again.
Litter after litter, new puppies are picked and traveled to their new homes,
But none find their way to your home.
Acquiring a new puppy, especially a large, extra large, or giant one, just isn’t something your family can do right now.
Each year, new adult dogs seek out a home to call their own. These picks of their litters grew up to give their genes to the puppies that grace so many lives. They contributed part of their lives and now it’s their turn to find a loving home to call their own.
But not for you.
Acquiring an adult is not something your family can accommodate for various understandable reasons.
But you still want to support the Dire Wolf Project’s mission to return the dog breeding world back to nature’s more sustainable breeding practices.
That is one of the many reasons you may have subscribed to our newsletter.
You want to keep up with all the incredible work going on at Dire Wolf Project headquarters, until you decide the time is right for the perfect dog for your family.
Up until now, all you could do was give a little encouragement from time to time, subscribe and follow our newsletters and social media posts, and indulge in the sweetest puppy videos on YouTube. Perhaps you also came to our aid when we needed support towards an unexpected need.
We are truly blessed by your presence in our lives, Jennifer.
Thank you so much for being an Inner Circle email newsletter subscriber. We also appreciate the support you provide for our amazing dogs as they make their contribution to the Dire Wolf Project! We make every effort to find them a loving home for the rest of their lives. Without your support it would be significantly more difficult to maintain these dogs and make sure they are in prime condition when they go to their forever homes.
Recently, one of our members reached out to us with a very generous offer.
This long-time, prominent American Dirus owner built a charitable fund years ago in 1983.
It just so happened that this 501c3 charity organization was started to help adult dogs, considered unadoptable, acquire the day-to-day general and medical care they needed to become acceptable for adoption.
Through the years, Nala’s Fund Benevolent provided for many adult rescue dogs in need.
The founder of Nala’s Fund Benevolent was looking for another dog. She saw a Sharpei/Shepherd cross rescue dog in Wenatchee named Nala that would have worked, but someone else wanted her. As it happened, the family chose a different dog, so Nala became available, after all.
As a puppy, Nala learned to fend for herself on the streets. She was picked up after 10 months with minimal knowledge of human care.
After being picked up, the shelter deemed her untrainable, limiting her adoption prospects.
Nala was very forceful on the leash. She was placed in a special pen because she was more wild than domesticated.
But when the charity’s founder came to see her, Nala was calm and gentle, laying her head on the founder’s lap, as if they had known each other all their lives. The bond was deep right from the start.
Nala eventually became a working assistance dog and served with distinction for many years.
After the once wild shepherd mix passed away, the charity’s founder became more and more discouraged with backyard breeders whose dogs ended up in shelters around the country. For many years, she was involved with rescue transportation in order to save these unfortunate dog’s lives. She likes to promote ethics and responsible breeding.
Throughout this time, she searched for a breeding program that promoted the calm, gentle temperament, impeccable health, and solid structure we have here at the Dire Wolf Project.
It came down to three special breeders.
When she noticed the great structure of the foundation and cross dogs used to establish the American Dirus breed, she realized the Dire Wolf Project founder was “on the right track”.
Now, it is our privilege to be counted among the prestigious legacy that Nala’s Fund Benevolent has brought to so many countless canines.
This generous American Dirus owner would like to include our retired Dire Wolf Project breeding dogs as part of her fund.
100% of all donations are tax deductible (keep your receipts) and will go directly to feed and care for the retired adult dogs that remain at the Dire Wolf Project still awaiting their forever homes.
The fund itself will not keep one dime for any reason.
The thoughtful inclusion of our retired adult dogs into Nala’s Fund Benevolent means we can continue to provide for them when their perfect family has not yet arrived to claim them.
