How much do wolf dogs cost?

The Dire Wolf Project created a secondary YouTube channel solely devoted to wolf dog information and news.

If you don’t know, Jay and I are conservationists. We believe in protecting God’s abundant life here on earth.

It is part of the reason we live off grid in a 300 sq ft motorhome without running water.

No, we don’t believe the world is going to end in a blaze or fiery glory in another ten years due to human pollution.

But we do believe in protecting the things we cherish, and we cherish life here on Earth.

We believe there is a way to live in harmony with nature, while still being able to utilize its goodness for sustainable human growth.

Natural land and wild animal conservation done well maintains a vibrant ecosystem where man can thrive.

We can have both progress and live among nature in a way that honors the life held within.

All of life is precious because it was created by God. Forever altering God’s creation always gets us in trouble in the long run.

Take the wolf dog, for example.

Neither able to live well in the wild, nor able to thrive in our human world.

These mixed up creatures are confused souls, neither fully wild nor fully domesticated.

Normally, wolves are shy of people and will not approach, keeping a safe distance.

Yuki, an 87% wolf dog rescued from a kill shelter when he was 8-months-old after his family was no longer able to handle him, was not shy of people. He would run right up to a stranger and greet them. But if he didn’t like them after meeting them, he would become aggressive and attack.

The friendly combination with the wild feelings he had inside caused him to be more unsafe than any full wolf.

Luckily, Yuki was rescued by the Shy Wolf Sanctuary in Florida. But this wolf dog’s opportunity doesn’t always happen.

In fact, 90% of wolf dogs purchased as pets are euthanized by the time they are two years old!

A ghastly statistic.

It is estimated that 200,000 wolf dogs are euthanized every year!

No animal should ever be treated this way.

We can do better.

We must do better.

The great thing is Lois Schwarz saw this wolf dog trend in its beginnings back in the 1980s.

She knew she could do something about it.

In her visionary brain, she developed a way to produce a beautiful thick-boned, giant wolf-looking dog using only domesticated dog breeds.

But she didn’t take the easy route.

OH NO!

She knew the heart and soul of this amazing creature would needs to fit within our busy modern lives or it would never work.

Having a dog that looks like a wolf is no good without the ultimate companion dog on the inside to counter the naysayers who would not believe what she had accomplished.

After 20 years of working on the world’s first large breed COMPANION dog, Lois then began perfecting the look of the extinct, prehistoric dire wolf.

A wild giant wolf look. Not the skinny, scrawny wolves we see roaming our countryside today.

Still, we are not completely where we ultimately want to be, but the Dire Wolf Project has never been closer.

Now there is a wolf dog alternative.

There is no need to purchase a wolf dog and chance having to contend with the unpredictable nature of a wolf dog mix.

You don’t need to build an 8-foot completely enclosed fence with wire underground and wire overhead.

No need to replace your furniture when you return from the store and see your wolf dog has anxiously chewed it to bits from being left alone.

No need to replace your lawn from the vast labyrinth of holes and tunnels in your backyard.

No need to exercise your half wild animal 4-6 hours a day to maintain optimal calm brain function.

Now… of course, not all wolf dogs require this level of maintenance, but statistics show only about 1 in 10 wolf dogs are able to live well in our modern human lives.

Do you want to take the risk that you will receive the 1 out of 10?

You don’t have to!

The American Dirus fulfills the desire to hold nature in your grasp without having to contend with the wild parts that come with such a desire.

In order to shed light on the expansive dark underside of wolf dog breeding and ownership that goes mostly unnoticed in this country, the Dire Wolf Project has created a secondary YouTube channel specifically to address the concerns of owning wolf dogs.

It’s time to stop euthanizing over 200,000 wolf dogs a year!

If they are never born, they won’t live a mixed up life that requires it.
