Is there any chance Stanley is the father instead of Cookie Monster?
By Jennifer Stoeckl, MAT - Dire Wolf Project CEO, Sept. 26, 2024
I received a very intriguing email yesterday from one of our Dire Wolf Project Inner Circle members.

“Hi Jennifer!
“I just noticed that neither Cookie Monster nor Syrenka seem to carry the gene for white mask/northern domino, and yet, a bunch of the puppies from the muscle car litter appear to be domino!
“I think the only breeding-age male at Vallecito who carries northern domino is Stanley. Is there any chance that he's the father?”

What a very astute member of our pack!
Here was my reply:

That's right!
Yes. Cookie Monster is 100% the father. (Separate spaces. No shared fencing. I saw the ties.)
But I completely understand how you would come to that conclusion.
What I truly think happened, though, is Syrenka's DNA test was switched somehow.
I first thought this because Syrenka absolutely has furnishings, but her DNA test came back as "no furnishings".
Then, we saw the piebald puppy when we shouldn't have excessive white spotting according to the DNA.
If that is the case, and the tests were switched somehow, then Syrenka could really be Em/eA (black mask/white mask). Then, the white mask puppies would be holding the recessive red in... well... the recessive.
The current DNA for Syrenka just doesn't make sense.
Syrenka's DNA test is not representative of the phenotype (outward appearance) we see in her and her offspring.
Thank you for the great question.
It'll be SUPER interesting to see what we see in the Muscle Car litter puppies when we DNA test them.

We will DNA test all twenty-two of the puppies soon.
I can’t wait for the results!

P.P.S. The first family has chosen their puppy! (Check the litter pages above to find out which one.)
So, I have bolded the NEXT person on the active waiting list.
You can follow along by monitoring the waiting list to see which family I am speaking with.
https://direwolfproject.com/direwolf-dogs/waiting-list/
If the family chooses, their name will move from the waiting list to their puppy’s name.
If they decide to continue to wait, I will un bold their name on the list and bold the next active name.
So exciting!
