PHEW! The Last temperament test results are in!
By Jennifer Stoeckl, MAT - Dire Wolf Project CEO, Sept. 24, 2024
This weekend, I officially temperament tested the Mountain Peaks litter.
Oh, those CUTE LITTLE BABIES!!
I hope you enjoyed our Movie Monday’s video of their officially temperament test.
I was able to sit down for a moment yesterday evening and write out the official scores and general notes for the Mountain Peaks Litter.
Two of the puppies received perfect scores for our breed!!
Many others were VERY close.
A-mazing!!
We are really happy to see this!
In today’s newsletter, I want to share with you a little reminder, though.
Sometimes families will see a lower temperament score and think, “That puppy must not be as good as the others.”
And that’s simply NOT true.
All puppies are perfect for the right family.
And remember, the canine species is very malleable.
That’s what has made dogs so wonderful at adapting over the tens of thousands of years they’ve evolved to become man’s best friend.
They mold themselves to their families, bending and shaping their personalities to match their environment.
It’s perfectly acceptable to decide on a puppy with a lower score if that puppy matches your family’s needs.
What’s important to understand is that our standardized temperament testing scores are meant for us breeders.
We let you into our world so that you can experience the scientific background behind the shaping of this new breed.
Don’t forget: All of our puppies are great.
The difference is that Dire Wolf Project breeders must choose for inherited temperament to improve the breed, while families can simply choose for overall companionship qualities.
One of the greatest things about the Dire Wolf Project is that each family knows exactly what their little bundle of fur is going to be like.
And that means you can adjust your puppy training strategy to fit your new puppy accordingly.
You’re already leaps and bounds ahead when you purchase a puppy from a Dire Wolf Project because we explain exactly what your puppy’s personality will be like.
We pride ourselves on being the most thorough breeders in the world at knowing the inherited temperament of each individual puppy.
This is something no other dog breeder or animal shelter can give you.
It is also why the Dire Wolf Project’s ability to match families to puppies is unrivaled.
Simply put…
We don’t sell puppies. We build relationships!™
Having said that, in the Mountain Peaks Litter, there is one puppy that responds to stressors in the environment in a much different way than the other puppies in the litter.
That does NOT mean this puppy is defective or that it’s somehow a bad puppy.
It means that this puppy will need a different type of family and different experiences as it grows.
This puppy is going to receive special attention from me so that I can mold its personality in a specific direction before it goes to its new home.
You can find out which puppy responded differently than the others and which two puppies received perfect temperament test scores at the link below:

P.P.S. The wait is over! We are officially open for puppy picking!
I have bolded the first person on the active waiting list. You can follow along by monitoring the waiting list to see which family I am speaking with.
https://direwolfproject.com/direwolf-dogs/waiting-list/
If the family chooses, their name will move from the waiting list to their puppy’s name.
If they decide to continue to wait, I will un bold their name on the list and bold the next active name.
YAY!!
