We put both litters together
By Jennifer Stoeckl, MAT - Dire Wolf Project CEO, March 30, 2026
Another week has passed here at Dire Wolf Project™ headquarters, and the nursery has taken on an entirely new form.
What once felt like separate little dens has now become something much bigger.
A single pack!
The Candy Crush litter and the Be Mine litter have officially transitioned outside.
And to be honest, the timing could not have been better.
Just a few days ago, the nighttime temperatures were still low enough that keeping them indoors made the most sense.
But now that spring has officially arrived, they have moved into a spacious outdoor den layered with fresh, warm straw.
And they immediately loved it!
There is something about that first step into a larger world that changes a puppy.
You can see it in the way they move, explore, and stretch into themselves.
But that’s only the beginning of this amazing transformation.
You see… Valentine and Amore… now four weeks old… are the same size as Troll, the largest puppy from the Candy Crush litter, that is a full week older.
Standing side by side, you would never guess they came from different litters.
I thought to myself…
I bet they could all play together.
So, I tentatively placed the Be Mine Litter puppies in the outdoor area with the Candy Crush puppies.
Then, I waited to make sure everything was going to be okay.
I didn’t really have to worry, though, because the Candy Crush puppies were gentle from the very beginning.
Even Troll was on his best behavior.
The puppies just got along right from the start.
No one picked on the younger ones.
And I didn’t see any overwhelmed puppy cowering in the corner.
Instead, it was as though the older litter simply folded them in, like they had always belonged there.
And then something even more remarkable happened!
That night, both mothers… Yeti and Maggie… choose to stay together in the same pen with both litters.
At first, I didn’t want to let them go in together in case one of them growled at the other mom’s puppies.
But I didn’t have to worry at all.
Both moms settled in side by side, keeping watch over all the puppies as they slept, sharing the responsibility of protection without hesitation or tension.
It was a beautiful thing to witness.
A shared instinct to guard those precious baby dogs equally, no matter which litter they were from.
I wonder how many other canine mothers would have been as accepting in this same situation?
The next day, I placed in a few exciting new toys for the pups to enjoy in their new space.
- a bully stick.
- a knuckle bone.
- a plush toy.
- wobble boards.
All of these items develop their cooperation, sharing, patience, and coordination skills.
Soon, they will be introduced to the rainbow tunnel… and not long after that, their first experience navigating stairs.
Each new challenge is a small step toward the world they are growing into.
It is an extremely vital step for young puppies to have this time with their littermates to learn the proper canine etiquette that will stay with them their whole life long.
Meanwhile, the Big Dog litter has been on quite a different kind of journey.
Several of these puppies have already made trips into town with me as we begin placing them into their forever homes.
Both of the females have now found their families, and we are currently working on finding the right homes for the remaining males.
There are five more still available.
And then there is Moonbeam.
In just a few days, he will begin his journey east.
On Tuesday, I will travel with him to Seattle.
Early the next morning, before the sun has fully risen, we will head to the airport.
Moonbeam will board a direct flight on Alaska Airlines from Seattle to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, where his new family will be waiting for him.
By that evening, he will be home.
It is a big journey for a young pup all alone for the first time in his life.
But this experience leads to a life filled with space, structure, and a family ready to welcome him into their pack.
We are so excited for him.
He is going to love his new life.
Across the entire property, all of the puppies are doing well.
They are growing, exploring, learning, and stepping forward into the next phase of their lives with curiosity and confidence.
And now, they are ready to be chosen.
All of the puppies are officially available on our puppies for sale page.

The puppies are growing so well.
And somewhere in this new generation, one of these puppies may be waiting for you.
MOVIE MONDAY
In this week’s movie, you can see exactly how the puppies get along with one another, despite being one week apart and being from different litters.
What a testament to the gentle nature of our breed.
