Why our "high-priced" dogs are better than cheap ones

A few days ago, a long-time Inner Circle email subscriber postulated that perhaps some of our puppies remain for sale because they are too expensive.

I heard the struggle to make it in our country’s current economic climate in her post.

And I completely understand.

I wish I had the money for a few luxuries, too.

But I respectfully disagree with the premise.

Anything worth having is worth striving for.

Here are my thoughts on why our dogs are worth their price, and even may be under-priced.

  1. Raising dogs is not cheap.

On Saturday, I needed to rush to the vet because when I went to check on the puppies, Galena had a temperature of 106! My heart raced as she hung her head looking up at me with extremely sad yellow eyes.

3 hours and $600 later, I had a week’s supply of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds… with no assurance Galena would make it through the night. Thankfully, she did and is making a full recovery. Crisis averted.

We spend tens of thousands of dollars on food and vet costs each year. Not to mention the much needed upgrades and ongoing maintenance to the dogs’ living quarters.

With increased prices in gas, much of the consumables we use to keep our dogs fed, watered and happy have risen, as well.
  2. Our puppies are strongbred with genetic health in the forefront. We have a lifetime genetic health guarantee and honor our commitment to open and honest health reporting. No other dog breeder on the planet can match it.
  3. Through Lois’s lifetime commitment to breeding the world’s first large breed companion dog, most of our puppies have a special, calm-minded temperament. They are gentle, sweet-natured, patient, loving, quiet, and smart. Great with children, other dogs, cats, and many even have no problem with birds. With consistent training, your puppy forms a lifelong bond with your family, oftentimes sensitive and aware enough to understand subtle emotional changes in humans.
  4. Dire Wolf Project breeders know our puppies intimately and can almost perfectly match a pup’s personality to the right family. Our many repeat and happy customers attest to that.
  5. Each Dire Wolf Project puppy comes with DNA testing results. No other breeder that I know of gives you that level of genetic health peace of mind. I once had to contact Embark to change a pup’s mistaken DNA label and the customer service representative was shocked at the hundreds of dogs on our roster. And this is only one of the many items in your Puppy Go Home Bag you receive along with your puppy.
  6. Not only do you receive your puppy, genetic health guarantees and testing, comfort toys/blanket to help with the transition, but you receive an ongoing relationship with us where you can ask training and health questions. We are here for you and your puppy for its lifetime.
  7. Lastly, our dogs actually aren’t all that expensive compared to dog prices all around the country. Yes, you can find cheaper dogs, but they don’t come with all of the above. Even the dogs sold in our price range don’t have the same level of care and community we provide with our dogs.

Let’s take a look at some.

But by FAR AND AWAY the most incredible find on the site were the TENS OF THOUSANDS of puppies for sale at similar prices to ours in an incredibly genetically unhealthy small dog breed. Along with the need for airway surgery in many of these unfortunate puppies, the breed below has an uncanny issue with hip displasia among many other chronic health issues.

Do you want a lifetime genetic health guarantee, an adherence to scientifically sound strongbred breeding practices, the world’s first large breed companion dog temperament, all wrapped in a beautiful giant wolf-like dog breed?

If so, then don’t be fooled by the cheaper (or even similar priced) options out there.

No other dog breeding program solves the many sad issues of dog ownership like the Dire Wolf Project.

We have returned to nature’s way because it is superior to the monstrous breeding practices upheld still today by so many who don’t know any other way.

Now there is an alternative to the rising health and temperament issues in so many beloved breeds of dogs.

But it costs money and unprecedented dedication to continue to provide only the best we can.

We are grateful for each and every one of the special American Dirus owners willing to support our work through the years.

Remember: If you want to begin the journey toward American Dirus ownership, the first step is to complete the puppy adoption questionnaire so that we can get to know you better.
