I think we need to talk about this amulet

Guess what?

Yesterday, I met Dr. LaBrea Evans in real time for the first time.

A lovely person. Truly!

She isn’t exactly the way our AI art depicts her.

Jennifer did the best she could for the welcome sequence as Jennifer has been face-to-face with her a half dozen times at least.

But real life is… well… real life.

I know that a great many of you traveled with LaBrea all the way back to the Ice Age.

You know how she looks.

And her mannerism.

You found out very quickly how intelligent she is.

And through her, just how intelligent you are as you assisted her along the way.

But I had only heard stories.

Of course, I helped Jennifer lay down the Welcome Sequence based on Jennifer’s experience.

Sooooo… I told Jenn I was due for a break…

  • I suggested a weekend in Hawaii.
  • I suggested a ski week in Vale.
  • I suggested a backpacking trip through the Grand Canyon.

Jenn went right to work, diligently making up the perfect vacation itinerary.

She booked train tickets.

And hotel stays.

And where did she send me?

To LaBrea!

(Maybe it’s time for me to rethink this Dire Wolf Project™ thing…)

Well, how can we blame her?

We do have this time traveling amulet in our midst after all.

Why let it go to waste, right?

Jenn suggested I take Yeti with me… and my new guitar.

Who could ask for anything more?

There is a secret to all this time traveling stuff, and I’m going to share with you a huge chunk of that.

For example, how did a woman from 1873 make initial contact with my wife in 2026?

I think if you really think about it, you’ll know the answer just by pure deduction.

If you were a woman with a time traveling amulet, wanting to make the most important contact of your life with a person in 2026, how would you do it?

By now, you’ve figured it out.

I am sure you did.

LaBrea learns of Jennifer Stoeckl through the writings of Genius Man on the cave walls around 13k B.C.

LaBrea takes what she knows of Jennifer and the Dire Wolf Project™ through prophesy.

She puts a black leather satchel together where she places one of the two time-traveling amulets.

She writes her letter of introduction and includes instructions on how to work the amulet.

Then LaBrea places it in the outgoing mail for Western Courier™ to be delivered at Dire Wolf project™ headquarters all these years later.

The plan worked like a charm.

In fact, the same Western Courier™ agent who delivered all those packages and letters in 1873 showed up on our doorstep.

Same combed and coifed mustache.

Same perfectly pressed uniform.

So, Jennifer followed LaBrea’s instructions and went back to 1873.

(She didn’t even mention to me she was going anywhere, sheesh!)

Tthere she met Dr. LaBrea Evans.

And LaBrea’s chronicler, Jimmy Rae from The Daily Howl™.

They all had tea together.

It was excellent tea.

And they set up a system by which they can communicate by letter on a weekly basis.

And that is where I come in.

My time first travel back to 1873 was almost as good as Hawaii… almost.

It was almost as good as a ski trip in Vale… almost.

It was even almost as good as a backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon… almost.

The fact of the matter is, it was better, actually.

For starters, I couldn’t take Yeti with me to Hawaii, Vale, or the Grand Canyon.

And my perfect vacation trip has to involve my best furry friend on Planet

Earth.

In fact, my time traveling portal took place… drum roll, please…

You guessed it…

At Rozy’s Hot Shotz coffee house in Deer Park!

That’s right!

That very same coffee shop existed way back in 1873!!

Who would have thought?

And their coffee was just as good, too.

No wonder they were so welcoming to my having a dog come in with me a few weeks back.

Next week… my friends, I’ll share the entire story of my first trip to the past.

In the interim, the puppies we rescued from down-down-down in California, came up to me today as if I was family.

They are eating, drinking, and wagging their tails.

They have officially moved in.

in fact, they had already hung their favorite Briton Riviere painting

on the wall inside their cabin.

They have several.

Funny thing about time travel…

It has a way of reminding you that some souls do not belong to any single century.

Some hearts are simply meant to walk beside humans, no matter what year the calendar claims.

And that brings me back to the present moment, standing on our little patch of Earth, surrounded by living, breathing DireWolf Dogs™ who carry that same quiet gravity in their eyes.

A few of our adult companions are currently seeking their forever dens.

If you feel that small tug in your chest, the one that feels suspiciously like destiny clearing its throat, you can meet them here:

Consider it less of a listing page and more of a crossroads.

You never know which pawprint might line up perfectly with yours.
