Dear Dire Wolf Clan

I want to share with you a topic I don’t often talk about.You see…

There are writers…

And then there are writers.

What I mean to say is not everyone can write with mastery. Like artists, athletes, musicians, etc., writing requires a distinct talent.

Over the past few years I have watched my husband Jay develop into one of these writers. I don’t really know how to describe it. Really. He lights up whenever he puts a good chapter together. It makes his whole day.

But there is so much more than that.

He’s been studying the ins and outs of what makes a really great story. Around every turn, he tells me about the nuances he’s discovered—internal plots, symbolic depths, and something he calls a “turnaround.” He shares with me a chapter, or even a passage he had just written.

I know, I know. I’m his wife. Maybe I just have a bias. But it appears to be so much more than that.

Some of his meanderings are like a foreign language to me… I mean… who is this guy really? Whoever he is, he appears to see the art of literature at a far deeper level than most people I’ve known.

So, I put together a promotional video just for him. He might be a pretty good writer, but short films are more my thing! It’s a sort of gift I made for our nineteenth anniversary this week. I want to try to get it out into the public—beyond just our group. Many of you have already read the Jacob Lake Trilogy, so this is not a nod in your direction imploring you to buy one of our published works.

But there is something I would like from you. Feedback.

(Wait… what? Feedback? You want me to participate in the act of enriching the Dire Wolf Project in a small way? Really?)

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m asking. Take a look at the video I put together showing scenes from Jay’s first novel. Then reply to this email and let me know what you think. I would be interested… really!

What do you like about the trailer?

Did you feel excitement, curiosity, or intrigue?

Did you understand the genre?
