INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this phase is to gently prepare you to slip into the role of a certified Dire Wolf Project breeder. We want you to be able to already have the respect you have earned being an integral part of DireWolf Dogs, Int'l and the American Dirus Owner’s community.

STEPS
These steps are in no particular order and you may complete them in any order you choose. Your breeding mentor has been instructed to not sign off on this level until all other steps listed below have been satisfactorily completed.

  • ▫  Register your company name with the Dire Wolf Project™ .
  • ▫  Create and maintain a website complete with the following:
⁃ Register a unique URL based on your company name.
⁃ Pages should include: breeding philosophy, breeding policy, guarantee, sample contract, link to the Dire Wolf Project™ adoption questionnaire, contact us, links to all other Dire Wolf Project™ breeders, list of breeding dogs you own/co-own, FAQ page, and any other pages that adhere to DireWolf Dogs, Int'l rules, regulations, and policies.
⁃ Review your website with your Dire Wolf Project™ Breeding Mentor before going live.
⁃ Post your website link on the Dire Wolf Project Breeder’s group asking for feedback. Sincerely seek to learn from any advice or criticism that may arise.
  • ▫  Be able to correctly answer questions regarding all facets of the breed in either the American Dirus Owner's Facebook group and/or the Dire Wolf Project™ Breeder’s group without needing to seek support from your breeding mentor. (You need to maintain an 80% answer quota each month with 100% answer accuracy in order to fulfill this step.)
  • ▫  Read “The Art of the Deal” by: Donald J Trump and answer the following questions:
    • ⁃  Why, in your opinion, was the author successful in his business dealings? (Use
references from the book to support your answer)
    • ⁃  What does your company uniquely have that other people want?
    • ⁃  When does a puppy begin to lose monetary value and why?
    • ⁃  What is your company’s vision for the future of the Dire Wolf Project?
    • ⁃  What are the daily activities you will perform in order to maintain your business
      interests?
  • ▫  With the guidance of your breeding mentor, co-own an intact breeding age female American Dirus™ that has as close to the ideal American Dirus™ temperament as possible, is free from all known health issues, and has a healthy pedigree that will advance the breed further towards its goals. Choose a female that is from a different line than your co-owned male. The Certified Dire Wolf Project™ Breeder receives the pick of the litter puppy back, but all other puppies in the litter are to be owned by you, the Advanced Apprentice Breeder.
  • ▫  Make sure your co-owned female has the following manners:
    • ⁃  Greet friendly strangers in a calm standing position
    • ⁃  Go lie down
    • ⁃  Kennel up
    • ⁃  Heel on a flat collar without pulling on leash
    • ⁃  Perfect Lap Therapy™ (needed for when puppies arrive)
  • ▫  Attain OFA hip/elbow preliminary x-rays at 13 months of age
  • ▫  Perform full blood panel, including a T4 test at both 8-12 months of age.
  • ▫  Announce the planned litter on your future litters page.
  • ▫  Add a link to the Dire Wolf Project™ puppy adoption questionnaire to your website.
  • ▫  Answer email questions and approved future American Dirus™ owners.
  • ▫  When your female is in full estrus, naturally mate your American Dirus™ pair at your facility without the guidance of your Dire Wolf Project™ Breeding Mentor. This mating must be completely natural without human interference, beyond gently holding the female’s collar after the tie in order to help her stand still. Proof of natural breeding may be requested.
  • ▫  Whelp your first litter of puppies, on your own, with guidance from your breeding mentor as needed.
  • ▫  Raise the puppies; feed them and the mother in such a way to make sure that both the puppies and the mother are free from disease and not thin in any way. Proof may be required.
  • ▫  Post regular (at least 3 times weekly) updates to your website including the following: weight, measurements, temperament testing scores, pricing, pictures, videos, an any other needed information.
  • ▫  Match families with the puppies in the litter. Submit a list of the puppies with the reasons why each family will be good for that particular puppy to your breeding mentor for review.
  • ▫  Submit all necessary paperwork to the:
    • ⁃  International American Dirus™ Registry (IADR): litter registration, puppy registration
    • ⁃  DireWolf Dogs, Int'l: Litter Information document
  • ▫  Complete the third survey and compare your progress with your breeding mentor.
  • ▫  Have your breeding mentor sign off on the completion of Level 3 and refer you to the DireWolf Dogs, Int'l
board for certified American Dirus™ breeder status.
