Surrogate Breeder Program™ Overview

The Surrogate Breeder Program™ is an innovative initiative designed to create a mutually beneficial partnership between certified Dire Wolf Project™ breeders and families interested in raising and caring for the finest American Dirus™ dogs. This program not only allows families to own and raise two or more exceptional dogs but also provides an opportunity for them to earn a positive cash flow while supporting the goals of the Dire Wolf Project™.

Program Goals

  • To enhance the genetic diversity and overall quality of the American Dirus™ breed.
  • To provide a decentralized approach to breeding, raising, and placing American Dirus™ puppies.
  • To ensure all breeding dogs are cared for in loving, home environments.
  • To share responsibilities between certified breeders and surrogate breeders, fostering collaboration and success.

Key Features of the Surrogate Breeder Program™

  • Co-Ownership Model
    • The Surrogate Breeder buys into the program by agreeing to co-own two breeding dogs (one male and one female) with a certified Dire Wolf Project™ breeder.
    • The dogs are carefully matched by the certified breeder to align with the overall needs of the Dire Wolf Project™ while considering the family’s preferences as much as possible.
    • The co-ownership agreement spans four years, providing clarity and structure to the partnership.
  • Breeding and Puppy Ownership
    • The Surrogate Breeder raises and trains the co-owned dogs until they reach breeding age.
    • Breeding occurs at a time determined by the Surrogate Breeder within the four-year contract period.
    • Any resulting puppies are solely owned by the certified breeder.

    • The certified breeder retains the other 50%, covering their role in marketing, placement, and project oversight.
  • End of Contract and Renewal Options
    • At the end of the four-year contract, the female breeding dog is required to be spayed, ensuring she is retired from breeding.
    • The Surrogate Breeder may opt to enter into a new co-ownership agreement with additional breeding dogs, continuing their role in the program.
  • Scalability and Certification
    • Each certified breeder may work with up to five Surrogate Breeders™ at a time, allowing for sustainable growth and oversight.
    • A comprehensive training and certification process ensures all Surrogate Breeders™ are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to whelp and raise puppies to Dire Wolf Project™ standards.
