How does this pup come into the world?

This puppy came into the world very easily with her sack on and head first. She was quiet and went right over to mom and began drinking. She did not hesitate and moved swiftly. This puppy receives a score of 8 for this section.

This puppy moved head back and forth in a slow manner and then lie still on the scale and for the duration of the exam. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this section.

This puppy softly grunted and tucked her tail. She moved her head from side to side, but then rest of her body did not move. She then sighed and her body became limp. Her limps were relaxed and calm for the remained or the turn. This puppy receives a score of 8 for this section. 

What is the reaction of this pup when placed back with its mother?

This puppy lie still where she was placed and although she had some grunting initially, she quickly went to sleep right where she was placed. She did not move forward or work to get back to mom. This puppy receives a score of 10 for this section.

This puppy immediately began moving in a circle, grunting and sniffing as she moved her head from side to side. This puppy receives a score of 8 for this section.

Puppy #2 - Red

Drop an object into the den away from the pups. This puppy sat up and looked around, but did not startle or cry out or whine. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this category.

Using your whole hand, roughly pet the pup from muzzle to tail. This puppy had some lift of the head into the pet then some movement forward. There was no sound. This puppy receives a score of 8 for this category.

Pick up the pup from its den using your whole hand to simulate mother dog's mouth. This puppy had some initial struggle, but it was a feeble attempt. She was quiet during the lift. This puppy receives a score of 8 for this category.

Turn the pup over on its back securely supported. This puppy was loose in body during the turn over. She took three seconds and then began to struggle loudly. She flailed her feet and wailed vocally. After eight seconds, however, she submitted and became very loose and quiet. This puppy receives a score of 5 for this category.

Place the pup in a high-sided wicker basket by itself. How does this pup act when separated from littermates? This puppy looked around, found the upper sides, but did not attempt to jump up on the side. This puppy was silent. This puppy receives a score of 9 for this category.

Aurora is a loving puppy with a quiet and calm demeanor. She is confident and gentle. She also learns new tasks with ease. She is somewhat intuitive and enjoys snuggles. She would do well in a family with children, cats and other dogs, although she would be great in a one dog family, too. She would benefit from a family that understands that our dogs are companion dogs and can connect emotionally to their humans. She has an ability to work to understand and communicate. She is a solid black female with very little white spotting and brown eyes. She has a long coat with a significant undercoat that will shed profusely twice a year as the weather changes. She will require regular brushing. She will be a large female standing twenty-seven inches tall at the shoulders and weigh around one hundred pounds.
