Temperament:
Aspen is a very smart dog. She learns very quickly and complies well when asked to do things she may not ultimately want to do. Aspen does not like to be alone. She thrives on human affection and attention. She loves being groomed and pet. She prefers chew toys, soft plush toys and puzzle solving toys rather than higher energy activities, such fetch and chase. Aspen is a submissive dog and bends to the will of others with ease. She tends to hold a grudge when corrected too harshly. She only needs a very soft type of correction and does not like yelling or others being upset. Aspen is aloof to strangers but doesn't mind being pet by them. Aspen is a confident dog but looks to her owners to show her new things. Aspen is not an outgoing dog, but a thinking type, instead. Aspen is highly alert to her surroundings and notices differences or changes quickly. She has lower energy and has an easy time relaxing. Aspen has a low drive and does not have a tendency to care about birds or other critters that run. She is highly bonded and shows a close range of territory and does not like to be far away from her owners. She will check on them often if she feels they are too far from her. She likes to remain close and keep contact. Aspen is appropriately touch sensitive and takes very little touch to notice something different is needed. Aspen has an uncanny ability to read human emotion and alter her own emotion to match. Aspen possesses a high pain tolerance. It takes a lot of real pain before she yelps or makes others aware.
