This puppy went in one direction without searching. She did not find mom, so she went to sleep where she was. She was not stiff and did not seem to be in distress. She was quiet and calm. Upon waking again, she moved her head back and forth for a few seconds, but again, not finding mom, she went back to sleep. This puppy receives a score of 7 for this section

Drop an object into the den away from the pups. This puppy initially flinched, by ducking head and stiffening neck. She then got in closer to the pile of puppies and was no longer stiff. This puppy receives a score of 7 for this category.

Using your whole hand, roughly pet the pup from muzzle to tail. This puppy moved away from the pet going forward and then in circles. She couldn't get away and so moved in all directions. She stiffened her head when pet on the head. This puppy receives a score of 5 for this category.

Pick up the pup from its den using your whole hand to simulate mother dog's mouth. This puppy was limp for several seconds then started pumping her feet and began to struggle. She did not whine or grunt, but move her head from side to side and her feet and tail moved vigorously. This puppy receives a score of 6 for this category.
