The Black Knight is the tiniest pup in the litter.  He has the lowest weight and is very light.  He had a dislocated elbow at seven days old when his mom stepped on him and was in severe pain for a day before the swelling went down after the bones were reset.  He was not able to eat on his own for a while and so had puppy supplement milk while we needed to be away from his pack for a while to recover.  He is using his leg perfectly now, but his movements are slower and more methodical.  He has always been a quiet and mellow pup, but is even more so now.  He does grunt some when being picked up, but snuggles and ruts when held.  He is a dark silver wolf gray pup with a no mask and will look extremely wolfish when grown.

How does this puppy come into the world?

This puppy was born by cesarian section.  He was healthy and vibrant.  As a result of the c-section, he was under anesthesia and so did not react in any way upon birth.  This score is forfeit.

This puppy is slow and not forceful.  He is not pushy and does not fight for food like some of his other siblings.  This puppy receives a score of 8 for this category.

What is the reaction of this pup to the first medical examination?

This puppy initially sniffed the handler's shirt with slow methodical breaths.  When he made his decision, he grunted very quietly, but did not move or flail about.  This puppy was quiet and still on the scale and did not try to get out.  This puppy receives a score of 8 for this category.

This puppy grunted quietly and moved his legs about without exerting himself too much.  He did not submit and calm, however, until he was turned back around, at which time he was completely calm and quiet.  This puppy receives a score of 7 for this category.

This puppy took 2 seconds to orient himself, turned his head one way and then made a decision and went straight back to his siblings and mother.  He did not cry or whine but remained quiet and calm throughout.  This puppy receives a score of 10 for this category.

What is the reaction to a dropped loud object?

This puppy startled initially, but immediately went back to playing with his siblings.  He did not react with any noise or moving away from or towards the sound.  This puppy receives a score of 9 for this category.

What is the reaction when pup is roughly pet?

This puppy wiggled some in an effort to back up, but only just slightly.  He was loose and malleable, drooping his front legs with the pet.  He did not flinch or move his head away.  This puppy receives a score of 8 for this category.

What is the reaction when pup is picked up?

This puppy wiggled and writhed during the lift.  He also grunted during the entire lift.  This puppy receives a score of 4 for this category.

What is the reaction of this pup when it is turned over on its back?

This puppy whined out and cried about being turned over.  He looked right in the human's eyes and cried out, as if pleading with the human to turn him over.  He wiggled some, but not with strength or force.  He quieted and settled immediately after he was turned back over.  This puppy receives a score of 4 for this category.

This puppy grunted and moved about the bottom of the basket.  He eventually moved onto the sides of the basket and then tried to climb out.  This puppy receives a score of 5 for this category.
