How does this puppy come into the world?  

This puppy was born head first with the sack on.  He was unsteady at first and moved his head back and forth so vigorously that he would often fall over on his back and had to right himself.  He was quiet for the most part at birth, but in the first three days, he showed that when in a different environment, he would grunt and cry out as well as forcefully move himself about.  He used his nose to smell when taken from his mom and became immediately distressed.  He did not calm back down until placed back with his mother, which calmed him immediately. This puppy receives a score of 5 for this category.

This puppy is quiet when in his comfortable environment.  He grunts softly when eating.  He grunts, moves and cries out when out of his environment.  This puppy receives a score of 6 for this category.

This puppy moves his had back and forth with vigor.  He almost throws it from side to side, which causes him to wobble and then flip over on his back.  He then rights himself.  When he is not sure of where he is, he will turn in a circle a few times before going in the right direction.  This puppy receives a score of 5 for this category.

This puppy was immediately aware of a change in environment when picked up.  He grunted, flailed his legs about and when placed on the scale tried to get out any way he could.  This puppy writhed around when fingers were placed in his mouth.  This puppy grunted continuously during the examination and cried out occasionally.  This puppy receives a score of 4 for this category.

This puppy moved his legs and body about writhing in discomfort.  He was, however, already not happy by being away from his mom, so this reaction could have been a result of the same distress he was already feeling.  This puppy receives a score of 5 for this category.

This puppy initially flinched at the sound and then went back to what he was doing.  He did not draw back or remain in a state of fear.  He also did not move forward, but just continued with what he was doing without a care.  This puppy receives a score of 9 for this category.

This puppy sat still and endured the rough pet.  He was not stiff, but loose.  He was quiet throughout the pet.  He did not move away or flinch or put his head down in anticipation of the pet.  This puppy receives a 9 for this category.

This puppy stayed still for two seconds and then began to writhe.  He grunted when he began wiggling to get down.  This puppy receives a 7 for this category.

This puppy likes to eat and be pampered.  Although he has a tendency to be stubborn when he does not want to do something, he is also very sweet and loving and bonds strongly with his family.  He has a desire to remain close and wants to be with his people.  He does not like to be alone or by himself much and would rather stay with people or his pack.  He will need consistent training and will do very well with children, other dogs or a family with lots of things going on.  He would love to be in the middle of an adventurous family and go camping, play in the backyard, go to the store or walk with you wherever you might go.  He doesn't have energy for lots of endurance type activities (like jogging or biking), but wants to be where you are and do what you are doing.  He will need lap therapy and consistent rules and training.  An overall nice pet quality puppy.

Excalibur is a very determined pup and when picked up is on the move.  He has long powerful legs that can dig into the surface and push off with great speed and agility.  This puppy uses its vocals to state any dissatisfaction and does not want to be out of its comfort zone for long.  He loves to eat and has a lot of muscle to move where and when he wants to go.
